Beginners Barbering Course
This course is aimed at beginners, no previous experience required or staff in the hairdressing industry looking to gain the necessary skills to pursue a career in barbering.
7pm-10pm – 1 evening per week (16 weeks) Commencing Feb 2020

THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING:
Health and safety – practices and procedures to offer a professional safe service
Client Consultation – communicate and advise clients, establish client requirements, maintain client records, assess clients hair and identify any factors which may limit or prevent choice of serve
Cutting Men’s Hair – preparing to cut, providing a cut, assessing male baldness pattern, use of clippers blades, identify hair type, natural hairlines and necklines. Finish a cut and after care
Cutting Facial Hair – preparing and providing a service suitable for the client.
Use of correct equipment, identify potential risk of in-grown hair, provide aftercare advise and care of your equipment.
The exams include a practical and four multiple choice papers.
Students will be required to prepare a portfolio throughout the course.
Full Barbering Kit, Exam Fees, Course Notes are all included in your course.
**Student’s will be required to provide a minimum of 2 models each week for the duration of the course. You will also be required to have models for the assessment towards the end of the course for haircuts and beard trims.
** A certification from "Portland Barber School" will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course and pass the exam.
